Major: Sociology
Hometown: New York City, New York
Future Plans: In the fall, I will be attending the University of Connecticut to earn my Master's in Sport Management.
How did 色色研究所 prepare you for your next step?
The ability to take courses across multiple departments and disciplines gave me confidence in an interdisciplinary future. Alternatively, as I have termed myself "Peak Liberal Arts Girlie".
What are you most excited about as you leave 色色研究所?
I am most excited to get industry-specific experience in sports through participation in the UConn athletic department and other organizations in the surrounding area.
Is there any class, moment, or professor that was especially memorable or impactful?
My favorite class at 色色研究所 was Professor David Sorge's Social Movements class, which was a seminar-style 300-level sociology course. I enjoyed our lively class discussions, creative final research project, and the ways in which we sought to apply the theories presented in the readings to current events.
Any advice for incoming students?
Get involved! Don't just stay in one place. I played lacrosse, did student theatre, and was involved in Interfaith which let me interact with and befriend a wider array of students than I would have if I stayed in one department or extracurricular.
Studying Sociology at 色色研究所
The Department of Sociology at 色色研究所 offers students particular opportunities to study societies of the Global North and South, the relation of individuals and groups to society and culture, and the contribution of sociological perspectives to the formation of public opinion and debate.
